How do I know if I need a new roof?
The following are things that may indicate that your roof needs replacing:
- Missing, cracked or curling shingles
- Blistering or peeling paint
- Shingle, sheathing or siding decay
- Leakage in the attic after heavy rains
- Stains on interior walls or ceilings
My roof leaks. Do I need to have it replaced completely?
Not necessarily. Leaks can result from flashings that have come loose or a section of the roof system being damaged. A complete roof system failure, however, generally is irreversible and a result of improper installation or choice of materials or the roof system installation is inappropriate for the home or building
What is a 3-TAB shingle? An architectural (or dimensional) shingle? A designer shingle?
3-TAB shingles are the least expensive and most simple. They are single layer and give the roof a flat look.
Architectural shingles have an attractive appearance with a dimensional, more textured effect. They are heavier and thicker than 3-tab shingles, promoting longer life and extended durability.
There are a countless number of designer styles of shingles. Although these shingles may be a little more expensive, they also have increased value, beauty, protection, and longevity, and a more unusual and elaborate designs.
